Vivo X Fold6 Goes Global With a 6,900mAh Battery and a Four Window Workspace

vivo has announced an international launch for the X Fold6, bringing its book-style foldable and a large battery to markets beyond China. The company has not published local prices or a country-by-country sales schedule with the announcement, so buyers in the United States and other markets should not assume the phone will be sold where they live.

The launch comes as foldable phones are getting more attention from major handset makers. The X Fold6 keeps the familiar tall outer screen and near-square inner display, while its headline hardware includes a 6,900mAh equivalent battery, an 8.02-inch folding screen, and a 200-megapixel main camera. vivo’s October 1 announcement also puts software productivity at the center of the pitch, with workspaces that can keep several apps visible at once.

Availability remains the main question

The word “global” describes vivo’s launch announcement, not a confirmed worldwide retail rollout. The Verge reported on October 1 that the company had not provided specific markets or pricing. vivo’s European product page lists the model, but local pricing and sale dates remain unclear. The announcement does not confirm whether the phone will be sold in the United States, the United Kingdom, or any other specific country.

That distinction matters for a costly device that may be harder to service than a conventional phone. An international announcement does not establish that a local carrier will stock the X Fold6 or that warranty and repair support will be available after an import. Buyers should wait for local terms before ordering one from another market.

A large inner display, with a familiar shape

The X Fold6 opens to an 8.02-inch display and has a 6.51-inch cover screen. Both use LTPO panels with an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, according to vivo. The company lists local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, a laboratory figure that should not be read as the sustained brightness users will see across the entire screen.

The cover screen uses a conventional tall phone layout. Inside, the unfolded panel is close to square, a shape suited to reading and running two or more apps side by side. The Verge’s hands-on preview describes the cover screen as having a standard 20:9 ratio and the inner display as almost square. It also notes a visible crease and says the device’s IP59 rating falls short of the best water-resistance ratings among current foldables. Those observations are useful caveats to vivo’s emphasis on durability and screen experience.

The phone’s weight and thickness vary by finish. vivo says the Prism Black version measures 4.4mm when open and weighs 228 grams; Horizon Blue measures 4.8mm open and weighs 235 grams. The closed thickness is 9.4mm for black and 9.9mm for blue, according to the company’s product information. These measurements put the phone’s thinness in context, while the weight remains similar to other large foldables.

Multitasking and AI tools are part of the pitch

The X Fold6 runs OriginOS 7 Fold. Its Origin Workbench keeps one main app window beside four smaller supporting windows. Multi-Split Screen can place as many as four resizable windows next to one another, and AI Cross-App Drag moves content between apps. The layout could help people compare documents or check a message while working in another app, though the usefulness will depend on how well individual apps support the larger screen.

vivo also lists an AI Meeting Assistant with transcription and structured summaries for in-person recordings, plus live captions for online calls. An AI File Manager can categorize and rename files and produce summaries. AI Reader Mode reformats PDFs for reading. These are software claims from the manufacturer; their accuracy, language coverage, and availability by region will need to be checked on the shipping device.

A feature called Jovi is described as an AI agent that can work across phones and PCs, search materials, generate content, and carry out scheduled tasks through voice commands. vivo says Office Kit can connect the phone to a compatible monitor or television for a desktop mode. The release does not specify which PC platforms or apps support each workflow, and it does not publish a full list of supported languages. Those details will determine whether the features work as broadly as the announcement suggests.

Battery and cameras lead the hardware list

The battery is advertised as 6,900mAh equivalent capacity. vivo’s European product specifications state a rated capacity of 6,760mAh. The phone supports 80W wired charging, 40W wireless charging, and wireless reverse charging. vivo says its battery uses fifth-generation silicon-anode technology and a third-generation semi-solid-state design. The company claims improved operation at low temperatures, down to minus 20 degrees Celsius. These figures and claims come from vivo; independent testing will be needed to establish real-world endurance and charging times.

On the back, the camera system combines a 200-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization and two 50-megapixel cameras, including a periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. vivo advertises up to 100x digital zoom and a Stage Mode that can record 4K video at 60 frames per second in Dolby Vision. The Verge notes that the main sensor is relatively large for a foldable, while also cautioning that it has not completed a full camera test.
