Token prices are unchanged at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, according to Anthropic’s announcement. The lower task cost is the company’s estimate based on token use, not a reduction in the listed price.
Built for coding and routine work
Anthropic recommends Sonnet 5.5 for coding, document creation and spreadsheet work. It is the second model in the Claude 5.5 family, after Opus 5.5. Anthropic says a smaller Haiku 5.5 model for high-volume applications will follow in the coming weeks.
TechCrunch reported that Sonnet 5.5 is the first Sonnet model to receive cyber safeguards used for Anthropic’s Fable and Opus models. Anthropic’s speed and cost comparisons are company estimates and will vary with the work being done.
